It was rather nice to see a chocolate lab in the running. It was even nicer to see my own who gave me a lovely welcome when I returned. The pups were also making a din and I was told they had been quiet all day so it must be my influence. I had been chatting with people and almost made the decision on the pup I will keep. However, having played with them this evening, I am back to being totally uncertain again. As the week progresses, I am sure I will get to know them better as we have the fun of starting the weaning process and that I will eventually make a decision.

Time out from the Puppy Pen
So today I deserted the pups, leaving them in Alistair's tender care. Since he has a tendency to spoil all the dogs, I wasn't too worried. The only separation anxiety would be mine. I miss them, especially if I am outside with dogs around!!! I was stewarding with Dawn at the East Midland Gundog Club Field Trial at Neville Holt by kind permission of Mr David Ross. With 24 handlers and dogs to keep under control (dogs; no problem - handlers - not so easy. However, being a very good natured bunch, it was a very pleasant day. At the end of the day, there were just 6 dogs returning tomorrow for the second day.
As you can see, they are all looking good. Hopefully we will get some action footage or at least some more awake photos as they are very cute when they are sitting up like proper little puppies.
