Day 20 Round about the House

Today I am exhausted - so this may be brief - but tomorrow I will be out all day stewarding at a field trial so will probably give it a miss - apologies in advance.

The pups were well into escaping this morning. The good news is that they used the opportunity to tiddle on newspaper outside the pen; which I took to mean that they are on their way to being paper trained (in my dreams I guess).  They are so cute when they walk up on their 4 paws and then stand so unsteadily to do the necessary!  Enough of the indiscreet ;) I set off out to get a few things - like waterproof overtrousers for tomorrow :( and a new bowl for the pup I am keeping - no, I am still uncertain which one, but do have a little leaning which will probably change tomorrow. It took a few moments to make my choice of bowl, never mind choosing the pup!!!! I have a pink bowl for Teasle, another pink bowl for Tosh, but someone(Molly???) tried to carry it outside and it has a break in the top. Alistair filed it down so it is fine. Molly has a black bobbly bowl to slow her down as she does have a tendency to inhale rather than eat.  It has actually worked, so that's good.  The point of the story - early mornings when I am a tad slow, it is easy to decide on which food for which dog because the bowls are different. (Tosh has Sneyds Glucosamine and Chondroitin which has really helped her joint, Molly has Sneyds low protein which has settled her down and Teasle has Sneyds working dog plus extras while she is lactating).  The pup will of course be on puppy food (Chudleys as it happens) so I needed a different colour. I like the melamine bowls but there is only pink, black and blue although I was sure there was a purple before. I had to choose between the blue, another pink or an orange, pink and other colour 60s stripe which is a bit much in the morning or a blue / pale blue jazzy pattern.  This shouldn't be a problem in this day and age.  I went for the blue jazzy and hope the pup isn't offended :(

Enough of the silliness, this afternoon was a quiet one, sat with the pups in the front room.  Three - Chunky Monkey, Blaze 3 and Curly Boy all decided they would leave the pupmobile and snuggle down on the vet bed.

Then Curly Boy decided he would have a quick snack while it was quiet...

Teasle wasn't too impressed and soon found somewhere more comfortable and puppy free for her snooze...and the other pups slept peacefully on...

They are all back in the puppy pen now and having slept are exercising their little voices with all manner of trills, growls barks and howls.  Their ears are now open so I guess they are listening carefully too and trying to see which sounds work best for them.  Note to self, do not pick up after barking - only when quiet :)
...will just pop in to see if anyone is quiet and awake :) ...not so brief after all!!!
